Intercurrents: The Alaska Treaty of Cession, a show curated by Patricia Shelton, which explores diverse points of view about the Alaska Purchase, first appeared in Anchorage last autumn. Now it has travelled to Bunnell Street Arts Center in Homer, opening September 7, 2018, 5 – 7 PM, and available through September. If you didn’t see it in Anchorage, or even if you did, it is definitely worth a visit in Homer!
Duos, a show exploring the work of creative Alaskan couples, curated by Patricia Shelton and Graham Dane, made its first appearance in Anchorage last April. Now it will travel to Well Street Art Company in Fairbanks, opening on Friday, July 6, 5 – 8 PM. This dynamic show offers a view into the creative process, collaborations, and long term artistic partnerships. If you are in Fairbanks, be sure to see it.
Portraits by the Greater Anchorage Portrait Society will be on view at International Gallery of Contemporary Art through the month of June, opening on June 1, First Friday, 8 – 8 PM. In addition, the gallery will host shows by two more Alaskan artists, Jo Going and John Coyne
The Greater Anchorage Portrait Society, founded by artist David Pettibone and now led by artist Karl Koett, meets weekly to work with live models. This is a dedicated group open to new members. I will be showing two pieces, along with numerous other members. Please come out to support local artists!
