Twenty-nine artists are showing work in an exhibition titled Birds on the Edge: Dynamic Boundaries at International Gallery of Contemporary Art in Anchorage. Curated by artist and wildlife geneticist Sandra Talbot and wildlife biologists Colleen M Handel and T Lee Tibbitts, the exhibition is a collaboration by International Gallery of Contemporary Art and the American Ornithological Society. The opening will take place on Friday, June 7, 5 – 8 PM. The artworks explore the lives of birds at the northern edge of the continent, the impact on birds of ecological changes in the arctic, and the importance of birds to Alaska’s cultures and peoples. The American Ornithological Society conference in Anchorage, also titled Birds at the Edge: Dynamic Boundaries, will take place June 24 – 28, 2019. The public is invited to hear artists’ talks and to attend a reception for the American Ornithological Society on Thursday, June 27, 5 – 9 PM at International Gallery of Contemporary Art.
Opening Friday, May 10, 5 – 7 PM, fourteen of my still life oil paintings, created from 2004 to 2019, will be on view at Cyrano’s Theater Patron Lounge. The show, curated by K N Goodrich, will continue through June 2, 2019.
You may know that I worked almost exclusively in oils for about 20 years, and recently transitioned to printmaking. I expect to be involved in printmaking for some time to come, which means that these may be my last oil paintings.
The viewing hours for my solo show at Cyrano’s Theater are as follows: Thursdays and Fridays, 1 – 5 PM, plus one hour before each play performance, through June 2. ( 6 – 7 PM Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 2 – 3 PM on Sunday).
Cyrano’s Theater is located at 3800 DeBarr Road, Anchorage, phone: 907 274 2599. The Patron Lounge is located just to your left after you enter the building from the parking area in back.
I hope you will enjoy both the paintings and the play!
